The Guest House (Los Feliz)

I was looking for a gastropub type vibe in Los Angeles. My research ended up guiding me The Guest House. This hip and trendy place is located in the Los Feliz district. Driving down to locate the Guest House I noticed a building with ambient lights, rustic features, and a authentic set up with two different dinning areas. If you do decide to give this place a try I highly recommend placing a reservation. This place is popular and you wont want to end up waiting a long time or worse ! Not being able to experience the food, drinks, and incredible atmosphere this place could offer. Standing outside I was kindly greeted by a hostess. After confirming my reservation I was seated in a table that was in the outside patio. The first thing that caught my attention was that this establishment was strictly following the COVID 19 Guidelines which is good to see a business practicing. ( especially a food and drink place) Shortly after being seated a waiter offered me a glass of water and explained to me that the menu was available via QR code. He was very polite and assured me if I had any questions to feel free to call him back. Excellent Customer Service from the get go. Reading through the menu I noticed that the Guest House is a place that dedicates itself to American Comfort food with a twist. They perfectly craft comfort food with intense flavors and creative ideas. I decided to order a three course meal which consisted of Mac N Cheese bites ( Appetizer) , Filet Mignon Medallions ( Main Course) and Crispy French Toast – A la mode (Dessert). The Mac N Cheese Bites were crispy golden brown on the outside, but once you sank your teeth in for the first bite the soft cheesy mac would take over your pallet. “Cheesy Goodness” After devouring my bites I was brought the Filet Mignon Medallions which had to be medium rare of course! A steak must be cooked at that doneness to really appreciate the flavor and seasonings. The Guest House sure made my taste buds feel at home! The Medallions were perfectly cooked and seasoned plus they were laid on top of soft and creamy mashed potatoes with carrots. If I am not mistaken, this plate had a a sweet reduction that complimented all three components of the dish to really make it stand out. Should I keep going after all the food I just ate? My sweet tooth won me over. How can you say no to a dessert which your waiter highly recommends. The smell of an amazingly produced piece of toast overwhelmed my senses. ( caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, nutty, bready, eggy, toasty, freshly warmed bread, buttery) The cherry on top of the toast was it being a la mode , topped with a fresh vanilla ice cream. I completed my mission of finding a gastropub that truly dedicates itself to its craft! Excellent Customer Service, Clean and organized Establishment, Amazing Food, Great Atmosphere, an authentic twist to the American Classics. I wasn’t lucky enough to taste The Guest House Drinks.. To be continued!

Sincerely, Crafted Comrade
